Server SMPS application
The trend in the data center and enterprise server space is to provide more power per host. At the same time, rising energy costs and environmental concerns make SMPS efficiency optimization a critical requirement across the entire load range of server and data center designs. This makes the combination of high power and cost effectiveness a challenging task.
In the hard switching topology used in the PFC stage and server applications, UOE recommends its 600V-700V CoolMOS. These MOSFETs provide the lowest actual loss, which is necessary for fast switching frequency operation in high-end server SMPS.
Compact SMD packages such as the TO-247/252/263 and TOLL, these SJ MOSFETs offer benefits in terms of space usage and power density.
Complementing the 600V CoolMOS is the CoolSiC Schottky diode. The 600V CoolMOS offers a great addition between price and performance. This is valuable in both the PFC and HV DC-DC phases, where low internal resistance and low loss are important factors, especially in the case of high switching frequency operation and highlighting load efficiency requirements.
Since high power (2-6 KW and above) requires ultra-high efficiency (96-98% peak) and high power density, UOE's CoolGaN 600 V series with PFC control offers leading efficiency and power density. Use 600V CoolMOS devices with active bridging circuits to meet customer requirements at the lowest cost. Operating expenses (OPEX) and cost outlays (CAPEX) are both reduced through a simplified topology that doubles the power density in a server PSU.
In applications with low output voltages and high output currents, a further efficiency improvement is a continuous reduction in resistivity. This can be achieved by using UOE's low voltage MOSFET family during the synchronous rectification phase. Optimized low switching frequencies and high system reliability make UOE's low-voltage products more competitive.
